Client Software Setup

Continuation of previous section covering initial VM setup and configuration

Client Requirements for VADC Operation

For VDI operation through VADC, you may use either:

  1. Pre-configured thin clients (configuration assistance available from your hardware vendor)

  2. Workstations with installed client software

Client Software Options

Two VMware Horizon client versions are available:

Client Type Architecture Key Feature
VMware Horizon View Client 32-bit / 64-bit Standard connection
VMware Horizon View Client with Local Mode 32-bit / 64-bit Custom port configuration

Default Connection: TCP 443
Note: For alternative port configurations, use the Local Mode client. Router adjustments may be required for non-standard ports.

Standard Horizon View Client Installation

Launch Installation

  • Execute the installer package

  • Select Next to begin

License Agreement

  • Check "I accept the terms in the License Agreement"

  • Click Next

  • Accept default location or specify alternative

  • Click Next

Server Configuration

  • In Default Horizon Connection Server field:
    Enter your VDC's external IP address

  • Select Next

click Next

click Next

  • Review settings and click Install

  • Restart system when prompted (Yes)

  • Launch from desktop icon

  • Select your VDC's IP address

 

Enter credentials:

  • Username: Authorized VADC user

  • Password: Corresponding credentials

  • Click Login to access your VM

Local Mode Client Configuration

  • Run installer → Next

  • Accept license terms → Next

 

  • Disable "View Client with Local Mode"

  • Click Next

  • Default Horizon Connection Server:
    Enter VDC's external IP

click Next

click Next

click Finish

 

  • Complete installation → Restart system

 

Launch the program

 

Advanced Options

  • Post-installation:

    • Access Options menu

    • Enable "Always connect to this server at startup" for automatic connections

Establish Connection

  • Enter credentials as with standard client

  • Successful login grants VADC VM access

 

Post-Installation Notes

  • For connection issues, verify:

    • Network accessibility to VDC IP

    • Correct firewall permissions for specified ports

    • User account permissions in VADC
